We are LYTHAM VAN HIRE LIMITED, a van hire company based in Lytham St Anne's, UK. We’re responsible for the personal data we collect and committed to keeping it safe and transparent.

What We Collect and Why

  • Name, email, phone number – to manage your booking
  • Pickup and drop-off dates, vehicle type – so we know what van you need and when
  • Home address – for insurance and customer records
  • Driving licence number and scanned ID – to verify eligibility and prevent fraud
  • Payment details (via Stripe) – to process your booking securely
  • Any notes or special requests – to tailor your hire experience
  • Marketing preferences (if opted-in) – to send occasional updates and offers

Our Lawful Bases for Processing

We process most of your data to fulfil our contract with you (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
We may also process ID documents under our legitimate interest (e.g. fraud prevention, insurance validation).
We’ll only send marketing if you give your consent.

Sharing Your Data

  • Stripe – to process secure card payments
  • Cloud storage provider – to safely store booking and ID records
  • Insurers or legal bodies – only if required by law (e.g. accident reporting or fraud investigations)

We never sell your data.

How Long We Keep It

  • Booking records and ID scans – for 7 years to meet insurance and VAT obligations
  • Customer contact info – for up to 1 year after your last hire, unless you opt in to receive updates
  • Marketing opt-in data – until you withdraw consent

Data no longer needed is securely deleted or archived.

Your Rights

  • Access a copy of your data
  • Ask for corrections or deletion
  • Object to how your data is used
  • Request data portability

In Case of a Breach

If there’s ever a data breach that affects your rights, we’ll notify you promptly and report it to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) within 72 hours.
