4. How Long We Keep Your Data
We only keep your personal data for as long as necessary. Our standard retention periods are:
- Hire contracts and booking records: 6 years from the date of hire
- Financial/payment records: 6 years (legal requirement)
- Driving licence records: deleted within 30 days of the hire completing, unless there is an unresolved dispute, in which case retained for up to 6 years
- CCTV footage: deleted within 31 days, unless an incident requires us to retain it for longer
- Marketing consent records: retained until you withdraw consent, then deleted within 30 days
6. Your Rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the following rights:
- Right to Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you (a Subject Access Request).
- Right to Rectification: You can ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to Erasure: You can ask us to delete your data, where we have no legal obligation to retain it.
- Right to Restrict Processing: You can ask us to pause the use of your data in certain circumstances.
- Right to Object: You can object to processing based on legitimate interests, or to direct marketing at any time.
- Right to Data Portability: Where processing is based on consent or contract and carried out by automated means, you can request your data in a portable format.
